MICHAEL ANTON is the Jack Roth Senior Fellow in American Politics at the Claremont Institute and Lecturer in Politics at Hillsdale College. He has served in five executive branch administrations, including two stints on the National Security Council staff at the White House and as Director of Policy Planning at the State Department. In addition to extensive private sector experience, he is the author, most recently, of Dispatches from the Late Republic: the Culture, Politics, and Prophets of American Greatness, Decline, and Rebirth (Encounter Books). Studies in Machiavellian Political Philosophy is his sixth book.
