James L. Buckley was born in New York City in 1923, grew up in rural Connecticut, and received his B.A. degree from Yale. Following service as a naval officer in World War II, he returned to New Haven to secure his law degree.

James R. Copland is a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research, where he has directed legal-policy research since 2003.

James R. Otteson is Executive Director of the BB&T Center for the Study of Capitalism, and the Thomas W. Smith Presidential Chair in Business Ethics, at Wake Forest University. He received his BA from the University of Notre Dame and his PhD from the University of Chicago. He specializes in political economy, business ethics, the history of economic thought, and political philosophy.

James S. Robbins is Deputy Editor of Rare and a member of USA Today’s board of contributors. He is the author of This Time We Win: Rethinking the Tet Offensive and Last in Their Class: Custer, Pickett and the Goats of West Point.

James V. Shuls is the Head of the Education Liberty branch of the Institute for Governance and Civics at Florida State University.

Jared Meyer is a senior research fellow at the Foundation for Government Accountability. Meyer, a member of Forbes’s 30 under 30 list, has testified before various congressional committees on regulatory reform. In addition to publishing hundreds of opinion articles, Meyer has also discussed his research on many radio and television shows, including the BBC, FOX, and NPR.

Jason Bedrick is a research fellow in the Center for Education Policy at The Heritage Foundation. Bedrick is the co-editor and co-author of two books, including Educational Freedom: Remembering Andrew Coulson, Debating His Ideas and Religious Liberty and Education: A Case Study of Yeshivas vs. New York.

Jason L. Riley is a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute and a columnist for the Wall Street Journal. He lives in suburban New York City with his wife and three children.

Jay P. Greene is Distinguished Professor, holds the 21st Century Endowed Chair in Education Reform, and is Head of the Department of Education Reform at the University of Arkansas.

Jean-François Revel (1924-2006) was a French journalist, author, philosopher and a member of the Académie française from June 1998 onwards. He was perhaps best known for Without Marx or Jesus, How Democracies Perish, and The Totalitarian Temptation. Until his death in April 2006, he lived in Paris.
