George Melloan, born in Greenwood, IN, was a writer and editor at the Wall Street Journal for 54 years. He joined the paper as a reporter in Chicago, moved to Detroit and then successively managed the Cleveland and Atlanta news bureaus. He became a page-one editor in New York in 1962 and in 1966 went to London as a foreign correspondent covering Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Gertrude Himmelfarb, professor emeritus at the Graduate School of the City University of New York, has written extensively on intellectual and cultural history with a focus on Victorian England.

Gilbert Meilander is the Richard & Phyllis Duesenberg Professor of Christian Ethics at Valparaiso University. He is a member of the President’s Council on Bioethics and a Fellow of the Hastings Center, a bioethics think tank. He is the author of Bioethics: A Primer for Christians. He lives in Valparaiso, Indiana.
